Healthcare stocks were lower late Tuesday afternoon, with the NYSE Healthcare Index falling 1.2% and the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) dropping 1.4%.
The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) shed 2%.
In corporate news, CVS Health (CVS) and related entities agreed to pay $315 million to resolve allegations that they illegally filled prescriptions for opioids and other controlled substances and billed Medicare and other federal healthcare programs for them, the Justice Department said Tuesday. CVS shares were down 0.2%.
