Hanmi Science's Anti-Obesity Drug Gets Marketing Approval in Korea

Hanmi Science (KRX:008930) unit Hanmi Pharmaceutical Group's novel anti-obesity treatment, EPPE auto-injector injection (Efpeglenatide), received marketing authorization from Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety on Oct. 7.

The product is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight with at least one weight-related comorbidity, such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, sleep apnea, or cardiovascular disease.

The approval is expected to expand treatment options for obesity patients in Korea and support the growth of the domestic obesity therapeutics market, according to a bourse filing on Tuesday.

Hanmi plans to commercialize the product in the Korean market within the year.
