Metaplanet (TYO:3350) kicked off its buyback program by repurchasing nearly 74 million shares for 19.3 billion yen through off-auction own share repurchase trading (ToSTNeT-3) on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, according to a Tokyo bourse filing on Wednesday.
The repurchase follows the board's Oct. 13 resolution for a buyback program of up to 200 million shares (14.7% of issued shares excluding treasury stock), worth up to 60 billion yen, running Oct. 14, 2026 to Oct. 13, 2027.
The company said the buyback aims to enhance capital efficiency and Bitcoin holdings per share while mitigating short-term supply-demand impacts from its issuance of Zero Coupon Euro-Yen Convertible Bonds with Stock Acquisition Rights due 2031.
About 25.3 billion yen of the 60 billion yen program is allocated specifically for ToSTNeT-3 repurchases.
