Workday's (WDAY) strategic positioning in the agentic space is incrementally positive, with the company's commitment to its AI assistant Sana and headless pivot via its Trusted Agent platform appearing to be the right move, RBC Capital Markets said in a research report emailed Thursday.

Channel checks revealed that AI innovation is accelerating and Workday Data Cloud is coming across as complementary to existing integrations, but flex credit pricing is creating some client friction, analysts wrote.

The company's strategy to invest in AI rather than optimizing near-term margin is proving effective, with AI transitioning to a monetization phase faster than expected, making its fiscal 2027 and 2028 subscription revenue targets achievable, according to the note.

The company is positioning itself as the enterprise identity layer with the acquisition of C1.ai, which, combined with headless access and the Sana interface, creates a three-pronged strategy positioned for growth in the agentic sector, according to RBC.

The brokerage said it reiterated its outperform rating on the stock and price target of $240 per share.
