Nike, Walmart Share Gains Contribute to Dow's 150-Point Jump

Dow Jones10-15

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up Thursday morning with shares of Nike and Walmart delivering the strongest returns for the price-weighted average.

The Dow was most recently trading 152 points (0.3%) higher, as shares of Nike and Walmart are contributing to the index's intraday rally.

Nike's shares have risen $1.65, or 4.7%, while those of Walmart climbed over 4%, combining for an approximately 34-point bump for the Dow.

Walmart shares drew investor attention after Deutsche Bank upgraded the retailer from Hold to Buy and raised its price target from $113 to $136.

According to reports, the bank believes Walmart stock faces a more favorable setup heading into 2027.

Deutsche Bank said the current inflationary environment should reinforce Walmart's value proposition and accelerate its market share gains.

The bank also believes Walmart's profit margins have room to improve as its higher-margin businesses grow faster than its core retail operations.
