XPO (XPO), a major provider of less-than-truckload freight services in North America, is expected to post a solid Q3 on stronger pricing and efficiency gains, Oppenheimer said Thursday in a report.
Profit margins are expected to improve from a year earlier in a trend that has continued even through a soft freight market, driven by yield growth and cost efficiencies that rely little on broader economic conditions, the report said.
Oppenheimer estimates XPO's Q3 yield growth, excluding fuel, at 4.4% year over year, supported by core pricing, expansion of premium services, and a growing mix of higher-yielding local customers.
XPO has also rolled out AI-enabled route optimization and workforce planning tools that are improving productivity and reducing miles driven, contributing to margin gains, the report said.
Q3 results are expected Oct. 29.
Oppenheimer reiterated its outperform rating on XPO stock and its $238 price target.
