HSBC (HKG:0005) plans to double its artificial intelligence workforce in Hong Kong to 300 over the next two to three years, surpassing its equivalent hub in Singapore, the South China Morning Post reported Thursday, citing a media briefing.
HSBC co-CEO for Asia and the Middle East, David Liao Yi-chien, announced the expansion strategy, which also includes the planned launch of the Hong Kong AI Institute in 2027.
The news follows concerns raised by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority over HSBC's AI investments, the report said.
