Micron Stock Price Forecast: Holding at $900 After Five-Day Drop, Can MU Stock Rebound?

TradingKey17:41

TradingKey - As of the close on October 15 Eastern Time, Micron (MU) stock ended a five-day losing streak, closing up 1.87% at $931.24 on the day. The stock dipped to $858 during intraday trading before quickly rebounding to near $931, with volume reaching approximately 39.1 million shares. Technical analysis indicates that the inverse head-and-shoulders pattern remains intact, and Micron's stock price is expected to stem its decline and rebound.

AI Demand Supports Performance as CXMT Competition Adds Industry Uncertainty

From a fundamental perspective, Micron's latest fourth-quarter financial results for fiscal 2026 remained strong. The company's quarterly revenue reached $54.23 billion, up 379% year-over-year; GAAP net income was $37.7 billion, with adjusted earnings per share of $33.42. The company expects first-quarter revenue for fiscal 2027 to be $61.5 billion ± $1.5 billion, and adjusted EPS to be $38.15 ± $1.00, both exceeding prior market expectations. Fourth-quarter revenue from the data center business reached $18 billion, a sharp increase from $1.577 billion in the same period last year, with demand from AI servers for high-performance memory products such as DRAM and HBM remaining the primary source of growth.

Meanwhile, Micron's board of directors recently increased its stock repurchase authorization to $35.16 billion, with the repurchases expected to be executed starting December 9 under the restrictions of the U.S. CHIPS and Science Act. The company's strong cash flow provides a funding foundation for future buybacks, but recent share price performance indicates that positive fundamentals have not fully offset valuation adjustment pressure in the memory sector.

Notably, the largest recent variable comes from ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT). Following CXMT's disclosure of progress in advanced DRAM technology, the market began focusing on its future competitiveness in the server DRAM market, prompting simultaneous adjustments in memory stocks such as Micron, Samsung, and SK Hynix. However, uncertainty remains regarding the commercial scale and mass production capabilities of CXMT's new technology, so at this stage it primarily impacts industry competition expectations.

Micron Daily Stock Price Chart, Source: TradingView

From the daily chart of Micron's stock price, the overall candlestick pattern has formed a distinct head-and-shoulders bottom structure. With the breakthrough above the neckline at $1011, the medium- to long-term trend of the stock price remains bullish. Despite the recent pullback, it has not fallen below the left shoulder low of $804, and the head-and-shoulders bottom structure remains intact.

Currently, the stock price hit a low of $858 in the previous trading session and subsequently rebounded rapidly. Meanwhile, this level is near the 144-day moving average, indicating strong support around the 144-day moving average. The stock price is expected to continue its upward trend. To the upside, the primary resistance level to watch is the $960-$1000 range, with $1100 further above. If the stock price can firmly hold above $1100, it will open up upside space toward the all-time high of $1255.

Conversely, if the stock price breaks below the 144-day moving average, it may further test the support level near $804 in the short term. If this level fails to hold, the stock price could pull back more deeply toward the July low around $737.
