Market Chatter: Taiwan to Invest Billions in US Production Facilities

MT Newswires Live10-16 15:32

Taiwan plans to spend billions of dollars to build chip production facilities in the US to supply Nvidia (NVDA) and other companies, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing an interview earlier this week with Minister of Economic Affairs Kung Ming-hsin.

The initiative will begin with a facility in Texas costing as much as $4 billion, the report said.

The facilities would help companies such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM) set up operations in the US, the report said.

Taiwan's government is collaborating with the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association to raise the money to build the industrial parks, the report said.

The ministry did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
