Veracyte (VCYT) said Friday its Prosigna test, which estimates how likely early-stage breast cancer is to come back over 10 years, received Medicare coverage through Palmetto GBA's MolDX program.
Coverage has been effective since Aug. 19 and applies to postmenopausal women with early-stage estrogen receptor-positive disease at stage 1 or 2 and with up to three positive lymph nodes, the company said.
The Optima phase 3 trial showed that Prosigna-guided treatment could spare more than two-thirds of clinically high-risk patients chemotherapy without worse outcomes, it added.
