Murphy Oil (MUR) said Monday it achieved successful appraisal at the Bubale West-1X well offshore Cote d'Ivoire and made an exploration discovery at the Lac Da Trang North-1X well offshore Vietnam.
Bubale West-1X encountered about 88 feet of net oil pay in the Turonian reservoir, with additional hydrocarbons in the deeper Albian reservoir. Murphy said preliminary analysis indicates high-quality oil.
Lac Da Trang North-1X found 131 feet of net oil pay. The company said nearby Lac Da Vang infrastructure offers a potential tieback path for the discovery.
Murphy also reported first oil from the Lac Da Vang field on Sept. 27, with net peak production of about 10-15 MBOEPD expected in 2028-2029. In the Gulf of America, the Chinook #8 development well is online, with an initial gross rate of about 15 MBOEPD, in line with pre-drill expectations.
