Ironwood Pharmaceuticals' Chief Commercial Officer Tammi Gaskins has been appointed to succeed Chief Executive Tom McCourt when he retires after 17 years at the biotechnology company.
Boston-based Ironwood said Gaskins will step into the role effective the start of 2027, when McCourt steps down as CEO while remaining a board member.
Chair Julie McHugh said Gaskins was selected because she is a proven leader with a deep understanding of the company's business, and has been key in returning the Linzess irritable bowel syndrome treatment to blockbuster status and growth this year.
Gaskins has served as chief commercial officer since January 2025. Having joined the company in July 2020, she was previously vice president of brand management.
McCourt joined Ironwood in 2009 as chief commercial officer and vice president of marketing and sales, and rose to president and interim CEO before taking on the role permanently in 2021.
