Dollar Falls After Warsh Comments

Dow Jones18:28

The dollar fell after Fed Chair Kevin Warsh-by saying very little-helped bolster market expectations that the Fed will stand pat at its October meeting.

The ICE U.S. Dollar Index, which measures the currency against a basket of peers, fell 0.9% in recent trading, on track for its worst day since July. Warsh's comments, which came overnight at the IMF's annual meetings in Thailand, led investors to further pare bets on an October rate increase.

Expectations that hot inflation could force the Fed to act this month helped drive the dollar index to an 18-month-high earlier in the week.
