China's Ministry of Commerce proposed Friday adding key artificial intelligence technologies to the country's export-control list, according to a translated statement.
The proposal covers 40 technologies in areas of AI, biomedicine, and photovoltaic, including 23 technologies related to large language models, AI agents, and computing clusters, the statement said.
At the same time, the ministry imposed a temporary pre-export registration requirement for technologies covered by the proposal. Registration would be required when transferring ownership of domestic technology abroad, authorizing its use overseas, or transferring its ownership or control to a foreign entity, the ministry said.
Open-source technologies and research already in the public domain will not be included in the export-control list, according to the ministry.
