EyePoint Pharmaceuticals' (EYPT) readout from its Diabetic Macular Edema trial is a key catalyst after missing the endpoint in its wet age-related macular degeneration, or wAMD, study, RBC Capital Markets analysts said in a Tuesday note.
EyePoint shares tanked on Monday after the company's late-stage trials of Duravyu in wAMD failed to meet the primary endpoint.
RBC said that with Duravyu missing the endpoint in wAMD trials, along with a prior miss in non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy, there is less confidence in the drug's success in another indication without additional data.
Analysts said EyePoint's shares will trade rangebound until the readout from its Diabetic Macular Edema, expected in Q4 2027.
RBC retained a sector perform, speculative risk, rating on the stock, but lowered its price target to $1 from $5.
Shares of the company were up 3.6% in Tuesday trading.
