Air Canada Adds Direct Flights to U.S. Cities Amid Gradual Travel Rebound

Dow Jones02:25

1425 ET - Air Canada is expanding its routes to the U.S. as part of its partnership with United Airlines as more Canadians travel south. Under the renewed Trans-border Joint Business Agreement, which supports more than 1,200 connecting itineraries and continued network growth between the two countries, Air Canada will launch several new nonstop routes starting next summer including service connecting Toronto to Louisville, Montreal to Indianapolis, and Edmonton to Newark. The expansion coincides with a sustained recovery in cross-border travel following a sharp dip in 2025. In September, roughly 1.9 million Canadians returned from trips to the U.S., up 6.8% from a year prior, according to Statistics Canada. That followed a summer peak in July, when Canadian trips to the U.S. reached 2.8 million, a 10.1% year-over-year increase.
