Market Chatter: Tencent, Alibaba, ByteDance Order Over 3 Million Nvidia Graphics Cards

MT Newswires Live19:23

Tencent Holdings (HKG: 0700), Alibaba Group (HKG: 9988), and ByteDance have ordered over 3 million RTX PRO 5500 graphics cards from Nvidia valued in excess of $35 billion at list price, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

Nvidia has cautioned clients that it may be unable to fulfill the full volume, as total Chinese orders exceeding 6 million units surpass its planned global production ceiling of 3 million cards in 2027, according to the report.

The cards, designed for professional workstations rather than large AI data centres, cost about $11,400 each, it added.

ByteDance, Alibaba, Tencent and Nvidia did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.

Alibaba should be building these chips in house. Or buy from huawei.  Big tech needs to build their chips in house like huawei, alibaba,  xiaomi, tesla,  Google, Microsoft,  etc.
