Novartis Halts Phase 2 Study of Iptacopan in Lupus Nephritis

Novartis (NVS) has decided to halt its phase 2 study of iptacopan in lupus nephritis due to "strategic considerations," the company confirmed to MT Newswires Monday.

While the first part of the study was completed, the company decided not to proceed with the second part, noting that the move was not because of and interim efficacy or safety findings. Iptacopan's future development in lupus nephritis will be assessed based on data from the study's completed phase, Novartis added.

The company also said iptacopan's studies in other indications will continue, as well as its lupus nephritis research.
