Tapestry Fiscal Q1 Results Unlikely to Shift Sentiment as Coach Trends Slow, UBS Says

MT Newswires Live10-20

Tapestry's (TPR) fiscal Q1 2027 results are unlikely to materially change investor sentiment or the stock's valuation, as the market already appears to expect a modest earnings beat and some slowing in Coach sales trends, UBS Securities said in a note Tuesday.

UBS expects Tapestry to beat fiscal Q1 EPS estimates by about $0.03 and raise its fiscal 2027 EPS guidance to $7.84 to $7.94 from $7.80 to $7.90. The firm said the key focus will be on "sequential" trends in Coach's US and Greater China businesses, where it expects sales growth to decelerate, according to the note.

The analysts said investor sentiment "leans bearish," with concerns about whether Coach can sustain momentum. Industry data cited by UBS showed US direct-to-consumer sales rose about 7% in fiscal Q1 but were running at a low-single-digit pace quarter to date, while China online gross merchandise value growth slowed to 13% from 90% in the prior quarter.

UBS described the risk/reward around the earnings event as balanced but said Tapestry has "underappreciated" long-term growth potential.

Tapestry is expected to report fiscal Q1 results on Nov. 5.

UBS has a buy rating on Tapestry and lowered its price target to $200 from $232.
