Treasury Yields Fall as Investors Seek Safe Haven

Dow Jones10-22 21:03

0903 ET - Treasury yields fall from yesterday and are little changed by data showing the U.S. labor marker remains stable. Weekly jobless claims fall to 194,000 from an upwardly revised 200,000, as layoffs stay near the bottom of a long-term range. Worries about government debt in France send bond investors searching for safe havens, potentially boosting demand for Treasurys and pressuring U.S. yields down. Brent oil rises 3% to $112 a barrel. The Fed is expected to keep rates on hold next week, despite rising inflation expectations. The 10-year yield is at 5.040%, the lowest it has been since September, according to LSEG. The two-year is at 4.731%.
