Wall Street analysts are taking the prospect of a SpaceX-Tesla merger seriously, even though there isn't a formal plan on the table. In a note last week, Barclay's analyst Dan Levy speculated that an announcement could come before Tesla's annual meeting, now scheduled for Dec 3.
Musk has encouraged the speculation on X, but on a Tesla earnings call in October, he demurred. "Obviously, we can't talk about combining companies and that kind of thing on an earnings call. It's got to be done with the appropriate process," he said, before handing over the mic to the electric vehicle maker's general counsel.
