Market Chatter: TPG-Owned Vodafone Blames Aussie Broadband's Symbio for Bulk of Scam Calls, ABC Reports

MT Newswires Live10-22

TPG Telecom-owned (ASX:TPG) Vodafone has accused rival Aussie Broadband (ASX:ABB), saying the carrier handled nearly every scam call that reached Vodafone customers over a 12-month period, according to a Thursday report by ABC.

Vodafone analyzed millions of scam calls on its network for a year and found that 98% came through Aussie Broadband's little-known internet phone company Symbio. Further, Vodafone hands Aussie Broadband the evidence and data each time it detects a scam campaign, the report said.

Aussie Broadband CEO Brian Maher said stopping the scammers is very difficult because Symbio has no oversight of who its customers sell phone numbers to, the report said.

Aussie Broadband did not immediately respond to an MT Newswires email request for comment.
