Amazon (AMZN) is securing billions of dollars worth of artificial intelligence hardware from Nvidia (NVDA), but some Amazon Web Services sites had space for more racks with insufficient power to turn them on, Business Insider reported Tuesday, citing internal emails and people familiar with the matter.
Amazon expected to receive $5 billion of Nvidia GB300 server racks at US facilities before final deployment, and about $3 billion more each month in the future, according to August internal emails cited by the media outlet.
At least one AWS team didn't have "a clear forecasted path" for setting up the incoming server racks into data centers at the time, according to the report.
Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
