WHAT TO WATCH:
--Tesla last week debuted its new Roadster, a flying sports car that Chief Executive Elon Musk has said will enter production in 2028. However, several key details about the vehicle have yet to be revealed, including whether the actual production Roadster will be capable of hovering and vertical acceleration, or what it will cost. Investors will be looking to see if any new details about the model are announced on the company's earnings call.
--Energy makes up a small but growing chunk of Tesla's revenue. The company is expanding its energy business, selling industrial-scale batteries to support data centers, as well as products supporting renewable energy for the grid and residences. The company said earlier this month that its energy business grew 9.6% in the third quarter, with that figure measuring the amount of battery energy the company deployed during the quarter. Investors will be looking for updates on Tesla's energy business.
--Tesla said earlier this month that global sales declined in the third quarter, reversing gains from the first half of the year. The company sold 486,532 electric vehicles globally in the period from July to September, down 2% from the same time last year. Investors will be looking to see how the lower numbers hit the P&L.
