Malaysia's November Central Bank Decision Expected to be Close Call

0511 GMT - Bank Negara Malaysia's meeting in November is expected to be live and a close call, DBS economists say. Pointing to BNM Gov. Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour's recent comments saying the central bank has space to adjust policy if needed, DBS thinks Malaysia's latest inflation prints give policymakers room to wait until 1H 2027 before raising rates. September headline inflation eased to 1.8%, while core inflation held at 1.7%. Markets are pricing in no change over the next month and roughly a 76% chance of a 25bp increase over the next six months, DBS says, adding that this likely reflects expectations that inflation will firm in the early months of 2027.
