Iren (IREN) said Wednesday it has established Iren Europe and obtained a civil works license for its planned 300-megawatt AI data center campus in Badajoz, Spain.
The campus, expected to begin operations in 2028, will support Iren's European AI cloud offerings, including managed services, and feature closed-loop liquid cooling and compatibility with Nvidia's (NVDA) DSX AI Factory Platform, the company said.
Iren said it appointed Angel Corcostegui, former Banco Santander (SAN) chief executive, as Iren Europe's board chair and Roberto Purcaro as executive director for Europe, following its June acquisition of Spain-based data center developer Nostrum.
Iren and Nvidia shares were up 5% and 2%, respectively, in early trading Wednesday.
