LongBio Pharma (HKG:1779) said its experimental drug LP-005 reduced red blood cell breakdown and improved hemoglobin levels in a Phase II trial involving patients with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH), a rare blood disorder.

Among patients receiving the 1,200-mg and 1,500-mg doses, all achieved hemolysis control by Week 12, according to a Wednesday Hong Kong bourse filing. No patients required blood transfusions or experienced breakthrough hemolysis across the three dose groups.

At Week 24, six of seven patients in the 1,500-mg group had a hemoglobin increase of at least 2 grams per deciliter without transfusion, while five reached hemoglobin levels of at least 120 grams per liter. No treatment-related serious adverse events were reported.
