Novartis (NVS) said Friday that six-year data from a phase 3 trial showed Kisqali plus endocrine therapy reduced the risk of death by 19.1%, compared with endocrine therapy alone, in patients with HR-positive, HER2-negative stage II and III early breast cancer at high risk of recurrence.

The combination therapy delivered an overall survival hazard ratio of 0.809, while the absolute invasive disease-free survival benefit rose to 5.3% at six years from 4.1% at five years, and the overall survival benefit widened to 2.1% from 1.2%, the company said.

The six-year data also showed a roughly 30% lower risk of breast cancer-specific death, with benefits persisting for a median of 38 months after patients stopped Kisqali, Novartis said. No new safety signals were observed, the company added.
