Deckers Outdoor cut its full-year outlook after sales in the fiscal second quarter continued to slow across both its major brands.
The shoe company said Thursday it now expects annual sales to be $5.7 billion to $5.73 billion, down from its earlier projection of $5.86 billion to $5.91 billion. Deckers is projecting slower growth for both its Hoka sneaker and Ugg shoe brands.
Deckers did raise its earnings outlook, thanks to a boost from tariff refunds. It now anticipates earnings per share to be $7.80 to $7.95, up from $7.35 to $7.50. Tariff refunds net of tax are adding a benefit of 52 cents a share for the full-year.
The lower sales guidance came after revenue in the latest quarter rose 3.5% to $1.48 billion, missing analysts' forecast of $1.51 billion.
Sales of Hoka shoes rose 7% to $677.2 million, below analysts' projection of $690.6 million. Ugg sales were $786.4 million, also missing Wall Street's expectations of $800 million.
Sales growth has been slowing across both its major brands. Direct-to-consumer sales fell 1.8%, while wholesale revenue was up. The company is taking "deliberate actions" to improve its connection with customers and sharpen execution, Chief Executive Stefano Caroti said.
Net income was $313.1 million, or $2.31 a share, compared with $268.2 million, or $1.82 a share, a year earlier. Analysts were anticipating $1.79 a share.
Shares slid 6.8% to $79.48 in after-hours trading Thursday.
