By filing IPO paperwork on Monday, Anthropic can conduct its investor roadshow the week of Nov. 9 and would be eligible to go public as soon as the following week
Anthropic is reportedly pursuing a valuation of as much as $2 trillion in its massive initial public offering.
Anthropic has officially given investors their first major look at its financial health, setting the company up to go public in just a few weeks' time.
The artificial-intelligence lab on Monday filed its prospectus for an initial public offering, a massive document outlining both its ambitions and the general state of the business. By mid-November, Anthropic and its team of nearly two dozen bankers will likely start making their pitch more directly to potential investors through what's known as a roadshow.
According to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's rules, companies have to file their prospectus at least 15 days before they launch a roadshow. That would position Anthropic to kick off its roadshow as soon as the week of Nov. 9 and pursue a public listing as soon as the week of Nov. 16.
It would also ensure Anthropic can get its IPO done before Thanksgiving, after which dealmaking can slow down. That timeline would require the company to go through its investor presentations fairly quickly. Companies generally spend a week or two meeting with investors in person or online during the roadshow.
Still, it wouldn't be too strange. Jay Ritter, director of the IPO Initiative at the University of Florida's Warrington College of Business, told MarketWatch that roadshows have been trending shorter because many potential investors have already seen "testing-the-waters" or fundraising presentations.
A representative for Anthropic did not immediately return a request for comment.
Anthropic is set to cement the year of the "megacap IPOs" with one of the biggest offerings ever, according to the IPO research firm Renaissance Capital. It would follow SpaceX's (SPCX) public issuance and South Korean chip maker SK Hynix's (SKHY) Nasdaq debut, which were the largest and second-largest global offerings to date by deal size, according to Renaissance Capital.
While Anthropic hasn't yet declared its targets, it could seek to raise $100 billion or more through the IPO and be valued at between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion as a result, according to the Wall Street Journal. SpaceX raised $75 billion at a $1.77 trillion valuation.
Whether Anthropic will be able to achieve such a large valuation is unclear. Some analysts argue it shouldn't be that highly valued.
Opinion: With the Anthropic IPO, the devil is in the details
Harrison Rolfes, an analyst at PitchBook, thinks Anthropic is currently worth about $1.42 trillion. But his valuation could slip to $1.27 trillion if the company owes more than $600 billion in debt before 2031 and revenue doesn't scale quickly enough, he noted.
Anthropic has committed about $855 billion to spending on AI computing power and infrastructure across the next several years, or over six times what it has in cash and short-term investments, Rolfes said in a research note. The company posted sales of $16.2 billion for the first half of 2026, according to its prospectus.
"Growth is not optional for this company; the contracts assume it," Rolfes wrote.
