India's Defense Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, granted in-principle approval to capital acquisition proposals worth about 2.12 trillion rupees for the armed forces, according to a Monday press release.
The Indian Army received approval for high-mobility vehicles, self-propelled tracked gun systems, helicopters, air defense systems, counter-drone platforms and surveillance and strike systems.
The Indian Navy's proposals include an active offboard decoy system and other major naval platforms, while the Indian Air Force received approval for helicopters, air defense systems, weapons and mobile X-band Doppler weather radar systems.
The acquisitions are intended to strengthen mobility, surveillance, air defense, and combat capabilities across the three services.
