SK Broadband Partners with LS Marine Solution to Boost Undersea Cable Stability, Restoration

SK Telecom's (KRX:017670) unit SK Broadband has teamed up with marine engineering specialist LS Marine Solution (KOSDAQ:A060370) for an emergency restoration of international submarine telecommunication cables.

The two have agreed to ensure stable operation of the Asia-Japan Cable 2 (SJC2) submarine cable system, which links seven Asian countries including Korea, Japan, and Singapore, according to a statement on Wednesday.

The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding to facilitate the collaboration, which is also aimed at speeding up emergency repairs along the coastal areas of Busan.

LS Marine Solution will handle at-sea recovery using specialized vessels and construction technology, including cable lifting, connection, and burial, while SK Broadband manages network monitoring, fault location analysis, and recovery materials.
