Lloyds Banking Group is scheduled to report results for the third quarter on Thursday. Here is what you need to know.
NET INTEREST INCOME FORECAST: Analysts expect the British bank to report net interest income of 3.83 billion pounds ($5.11 billion) for the third quarter, according to consensus estimates compiled by Lloyds. The figure would be an increase of 11% from last year's 3.45 billion pounds.
PRETAX PROFIT FORECAST: Lloyds is expected to report third-quarter pretax profit of 2.28 billion pounds, according to the same consensus. The group posted a pre-tax profit of 1.17 billion pounds in the same period of 2025.
Shares in Lloyds fell 3.8% in the third quarter and have dropped a further 4.7% since. However, the stock is up 3.3% so far this year.
WHAT TO WATCH
--DEPOSIT MARGINS: Domestic British banks continue to flag a competitive deposit market, analysts at UBS note. "System liquidity being tight and lending volume growth are some reasons cited for the competition," UBS adds. Investors will be watching how this developed for Lloyds in the third quarter.
--COSTS: Other U.K. banks have flagged a near-term rise in costs, UBS notes. This means any commentary from Lloyds on performance-related costs and cost inflation into 2027 will be in focus, the Swiss bank says.
--TAXES: British bank stocks fell earlier this month after a report that U.K. Treasury chief John Healey is set to raise bank taxes in Wednesday's government budget, just ahead of Lloyds results on Thursday. Lloyds' views on impacts from any announcements made on Wednesday are likely to be in focus, as well as the outlook for potential regulatory changes, UBS analysts write.
