Bayer Takes Another Step Toward Litigation Containment

Dow Jones10-30

0957 GMT - Bayer took another step toward containing litigation risks with a favorable court ruling in Missouri in a case over its Roundup weedkiller, J.P. Morgan analysts say in a note. With failure-to-warn claims no longer available due to a U.S. Supreme Court ruling earlier this year, a Missouri Circuit Court jury sided with the company on the design defect, fraud, and negligence claims that each of the three plaintiffs pursued, the analysts say. "We see this as another positive step to the overall containment of the glyphosate litigation, as this case demonstrates that it will be difficult for future plaintiffs to pursue design defect and negligence claims," they add. Shares rise 4.2%.
