Market Chatter: DOJ Probes Nvidia's Hugging Face Deal Over AI Competition

MT Newswires Live03:07

The US Department of Justice is examining how Nvidia's (NVDA) planned $12.93 billion acquisition of Hugging Face could affect competition in the artificial intelligence industry, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The DOJ's inquiries also cover Nvidia's acquisitions, investments, sales practices and whether it has pressured customers, the sources said.

Officials are examining whether the Hugging Face deal would give Nvidia control over a key AI distribution point.

Nvidia declined and DOJ did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
