Azenta (AZTA) said Friday it is expanding its Genewiz genomics business by entering into an exclusive license agreement with Elegen Corp. and by acquiring synthetic biology company SynPlexity.
The Elegen agreement adds cell-free DNA manufacturing technology aimed at improving DNA quality, production speed and scalability, the company said.
The SynPlexity acquisition adds technology that enables researchers to produce thousands of gene variants in a single library, including AI-generated designs, Azenta said.
Financial terms of the license agreement and the acquisition were not disclosed.
Azenta shares were 3.1% lower in premarket trading.
