A Missouri Circuit Court sided with Bayer's Monsanto business in a case over its Roundup weedkiller, handing the company a win in the first trial since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in its favor in June.

Bayer said late Thursday that the court jury ruled for Monsanto on the design defect, fraud, and negligence claims that each of the three plaintiffs pursued.

The verdict came after the company won its Supreme Court challenge against claims that it failed to warn consumers that Roundup causes cancer and as it pursues a $7.25 billion settlement as part of a plan to move past long-running legal battles.

The company said it would continue to back the safety of its glyphosate-based herbicides and defend its products in any remaining litigation.
