Dow Jones01:58
1358 ET - Microsoft's new Agents and Infra segment, part of the company's September revamp of its reporting segments, demonstrates the flexibility of the company's approach to cloud computing capacity, StoneX analyst Yi Fu Lee writes. "We are impressed by how Microsoft increasingly manages AI infrastructure capacity like an investment portfolio, allocating a scarce and fungible asset toward the highest-return opportunities while considering strategic tradeoffs," Lee writes. The new segment, which spans Microsoft's full AI stack, "acknowledges that the economic return on AI infrastructure should not be evaluated solely through the margin of any one product," he adds.
