Ford Motor (F) is a 2028/2029 story, when Fathom ramps, Ford Energy scales, and European partnerships begin production, RBC Capital Markets said in a note Wednesday.
Ford increased its full-year 2026 adjusted earnings before interest and taxes guidance, but said it expects 2027 profitability to be flat due to elevated commodity costs and its investment in its Model e electric vehicle business, according to the note.
Losses from Model e will be higher in 2027, but will improve in H2 of 2028 when Fathom, the company's midsize pickup truck to be built on its universal electric vehicle platform, ramps production, RBC said.
The brokerage also expects Ford's energy storage business to scale, with over 80% of 2028 capacity already covered by executed contracts and late-stage talks, while European partnerships are expected to begin production in 2028.
RBC maintained its sector perform rating on Ford Motor and lowered the price target to $14 from $15.
Shares of Ford Motor were up 3.7% in Thursday trading.
