Captrust, a large Raleigh, N.C.-based registered investment advisor firm, has announced its tenth acquisition this year, with the addition of Pacific Sage Partners. The company also said it is open to more deals to further its growth.
Pacific Sage, an eight-person RIA in Edmonds, Wash., advises on about $1.1 billion in client assets. It is led by Mark Anderson, the founder and chief executive, whose career includes positions at Edward Jones and Tradewinds Capital Management. Pacific Sage will adopt its new parent's brand and add to Captrust's existing presence in Washington state. The acquirer already has offices in Wenatchee and Bellevue.
Captrust didn't disclose terms of the deal.
The firm has been an active acquirer this year. Earlier this month, it announced the addition of a Raleigh, N.C.-based wealth management team led by Clark Abbott and Robert Hartinger, and Hoge-Barrett Group, a 13-person practice that managed $3 billion in client assets with Truist.
"We've had a very strong year for M&A at Captrust, and we believe there's still tremendous opportunity ahead," said Mike Wunderli, the firm's head of mergers and acquisitions. He added that the firm doesn't measure success by the number of deals completed, but rather it focuses on finding firms with strong teams, a commitment to clients, and excitement for the future. "When those ingredients are there, Captrust can provide the resources and opportunities to create meaningful growth for everyone involved," he said.
Captrust is one of the largest RIAs in the country, ranking No. 9 on Barron's 2026 list of mega firms. It has a large institutional business as well as more than $100 billion in retail assets under management, according to a spokesperson. Its most recent Form ADV regulatory filing showed more than $1.2 trillion in total assets.
The firm, which launched in 1997, has been on a steady growth streak. It has more than 2,000 employees nationwide.
