Quanta Services (NYSE: PWR) reported Q3 2026 revenue of $12.01 billion, up 57.4% from $7.63 billion a year earlier, while GAAP diluted EPS rose to $4.55 from $2.24. Net income attributable to common stock more than doubled to $694.9 million, and higher segment margins, stronger cash generation, and a record $63.73 billion backlog supported an increase in the company’s full-year outlook.
Core Financial Results
The quarter combined rapid revenue growth with operating leverage. Gross profit increased faster than revenue, while selling, general and administrative expenses rose 36.7% to $783.3 million, contributing to an increase in consolidated operating margin to 8.5% from 6.8%.
Adjusted profitability and cash generation also rose faster than revenue. Adjusted diluted EPS increased 82.0%, while operating cash flow and free cash flow more than doubled from the prior-year quarter.

Business and Segment Performance
Electric remained Quanta’s largest segment, representing 81.6% of consolidated revenue and accounting for most of the quarter’s absolute revenue increase. Both reportable segments delivered revenue growth above 50%, while their operating margins improved by at least one percentage point.
| Segment | Q3 2026 Revenue | Revenue Growth | Operating Income | Operating Margin |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Electric | $9.800B | +58.8% | $1.238B, up 75.9% | 12.6% vs. 11.4% |
| Underground and Infrastructure | $2.215B | +51.8% | $208.0M, up 70.2% | 9.4% vs. 8.4% |
Reported growth includes acquired businesses from their respective acquisition dates. Quanta completed five acquisitions during the first nine months of 2026 and eight during 2025, and the release did not quantify organic growth separately.
Corporate and non-allocated costs increased to $419.5 million from $308.8 million, partly reflecting higher intangible-asset amortization and stock-based compensation. However, those costs declined to 3.5% of revenue from 4.0%, allowing the segment-level margin gains to flow through to consolidated operating income.
Backlog Growth Supports the Higher Outlook, but Timing Remains Variable
Quanta’s total backlog reached a record $63.73 billion at September 30, 2026, up 62.7% from a year earlier. Remaining performance obligations nearly doubled, providing greater visibility into contracted work and supporting management’s higher full-year expectations.
| Backlog Metric | September 30, 2026 | September 30, 2025 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Remaining performance obligations | $41.753B | $20.973B | +99.1% |
| Total backlog | $63.732B | $39.174B | +62.7% |
| Backlog expected within 12 months | $38.448B | $22.310B | +72.3% |
Backlog is a non-GAAP measure and includes remaining performance obligations, estimated orders under master service agreements, estimated renewals, and certain non-fixed-price contracts. Project accelerations, cancellations, permitting delays, weather, and other execution factors can change when and whether these amounts become revenue.
Profitability, Cash Flow, and Balance Sheet
Cash conversion provided additional support to the quarter’s profit growth. Operating cash flow of $1.45 billion exceeded reported net income, and free cash flow reached $1.20 billion after $254.4 million of net capital expenditures.
Cash and cash equivalents increased to $2.32 billion at September 30 from $439.5 million at the end of 2025. Gross debt, including current maturities, rose to approximately $6.99 billion from $5.99 billion, but the larger cash balance reduced simple net debt to approximately $4.68 billion from $5.56 billion.
During the quarter, Quanta issued $2.00 billion of senior notes, expanded revolving credit commitments to $2.98 billion, and extended the revolving facility’s maturity to July 2031. It also prepaid the full $618.8 million balance of its term loan in September.
Full-Year 2026 Guidance
Management increased its full-year 2026 expectations across revenue, earnings, EBITDA, and cash flow, citing Q3 performance and expected incremental strength in the fourth quarter. | Metric | Updated FY2026 Guidance |
|---|---|
| Revenue | $41.3B–$41.6B |
| Net income attributable to common stock | $1.92B–$1.98B |
| GAAP diluted EPS | $12.57–$12.97 |

| EBITDA | $3.99B–$4.09B |
| Adjusted EBITDA | $4.40B–$4.49B |

Management’s View
CEO Duke Austin said demand was broadening across utility, power generation, industrial, and technology customers. Management views Quanta’s ability to deploy its skilled workforce across different end markets as a way to direct resources toward stronger demand and reduce exposure to individual market cycles.
Management also said the company was pacing ahead of the multi-year growth targets presented at its 2026 Investor Day. Supported by continued backlog growth, it sees an opportunity to deliver strong double-digit adjusted EPS growth in 2027, although it did not provide a formal numerical range.
Risks Investors Should Monitor
- Backlog conversion and project timing: Weather, permitting, regulation, supply-chain constraints, and customer decisions can delay or reduce revenue expected from backlog.
- Acquisition and integration effects: Acquisitions contributed to reported results and increased intangible-asset amortization. Integration costs or weaker acquired-business performance could affect margins and comparability.
- Fixed-price contract exposure: Higher labor, materials, equipment, tariff, or execution costs may pressure profitability when those increases cannot be passed through to customers.
- Higher gross debt and financing costs: Gross debt increased following the senior note issuance, while quarterly interest and financing expense rose to $84.0 million from $71.8 million. The larger cash balance provides an offset, but financing costs remain relevant to earnings.
Summary
Quanta Services’ Q3 2026 results showed revenue growth across both segments, expanding margins, and cash generation that outpaced reported profit growth. Electric remained the primary growth engine, while Underground and Infrastructure also posted higher revenue and profitability. The record backlog and improved cash position support the raised full-year outlook, with project timing, acquisition integration, cost control, and backlog conversion remaining the main areas to monitor.
