Shell Leans on Flexible Buybacks in Bumper Third Quarter
Dow Jones10-29 19:25
1124 GMT - Shell's bumper third-quarter performance contained few surprises, AJ Bell's Russ Mould writes. As earnings jumped, the British energy major hiked its buyback to $5 billion from the $3 billion it announced last quarter. "Typically, this is a more flexible option for companies than increasing the ordinary dividend, where there is greater expectation from investors of payments being maintained or increased," he says. Shares rise 3% to 4,075 pence.
