1844 ET - Microsoft CFO Amy Hood gives an optimistic view of the company's heavy investments in AI infrastructure, adding that the company expects to maintain positive free cash flow in the current fiscal year. During the fiscal first quarter, Microsoft spent $45.2 billion in capital expenditures, and the company expects to spend more than $50 billion in the second. "As we continue to improve the efficiencies of our infrastructure, each dollar of CapEx has the potential to support more revenue and higher returns over time," Hood tells analysts on a Wednesday call. The commentary comes amid market worries about the returns on investments in AI infrastructure.
