DoorDash (DASH) can strengthen Instacart's (CART) business through revenue opportunities and cost savings over time, RBC Capital Markets said Thursday in a report expressing support for the planned acquisition.
RBC said DoorDash expects to combine its restaurant delivery network with Instacart's grocery platform while expanding access to software and advertising tools across both companies' merchant bases. The analyst also sees opportunities to increase sales through overlapping subscribers, broader product selection and additional advertising revenue.
Investors may need to accept increased spending through at least 2028 as DoorDash integrates Instacart and completes platform upgrades, the report said. Still, RBC said the company is pursuing the deal "from a position of strength," with growth accelerating across its DoorDash, Wolt and Deliveroo marketplace businesses.
On Thursday, DoorDash reported Q3 orders, gross order value and EBITDA above Wall Street expectations, aided by strength in its US restaurant business, RBC said.
RBC maintained its outperform rating and $270 price target on DoorDash shares.
