1017 ET - Richmond Fed President Tom Barkin said that with high inflation, solid demand, and relatively low unemployment, the Fed's direction of travel is straightforward; the question is how quickly they should move. "I think the question...is pace," Barkin said in an interview with SiriusXM. "I think a gradual approach is a good way to go, and we'll see what we learn over the next period of time," he said. In the Fed's policy statement this month, they wrote "the accumulation of more information will help the Committee determine the policy stance appropriate to ensure a timely return of inflation to the Committee's 2 percent goal."
