Keyence Corp. announced Thursday that it plans to conduct a stock split of its common stock at a ratio of five shares for every one share, effective Nov. 21.
The minimum investment amount per trading unit of the company's stock, based on Thursday's closing price, is 7,636,000 yen, which simple math shows will fall to about 1,530,000 yen after the split.
"Based on the current stock price and business performance, we determined that this would be the best time (for the split) in order to improve liquidity and broaden our investor base," said President Tetsuya Nakano at a financial results press conference held in Osaka City on the day.
The company also announced that it would raise the annual dividend per share for the fiscal year ending March 2027, without reference to the stock split, to 650 yen, up 100 yen from the previous fiscal year.
According to the company's consolidated financial results for the six months ended September 2026, net sales for the period increased 34.9% year on year to 735.3 billion yen. Net profit increased 49.4% year on year to 298.6 billion yen. Sales of factory automation equipment were strong, particularly in Asia, where capital investment related to semiconductors and AI-related technologies remains robust.
"Our development of high-value-added products has steadily yielded results. There is still room for growth, and we will continue to strive to expand our operations," Nakano said.
