U.S. Natural-Gas Futures Fall on Mild Near-Term Weather

Dow Jones11-03 07:08

1807 ET [Dow Jones]--U.S. natural-gas futures give up early gains and settle lower with the market focused on mild weather in the first half of November limiting heating demand. "Temperatures can fall from their current levels and still remain above normal, leaving less heating demand than the calendar alone would suggest," Gelber & Associates says in a note. Loss of power-sector gas consumption has been greater than the initial heating increase, "so the seasonal transition has not yet delivered a broad increase in domestic demand." Nymex natural gas settles down 1.4% at $2.8560/mmBtu.
