AUSTIN- Texas Senate hopeful James Talarico and gubernatorial nominee Gina Hinojosa closed out their campaigns in a joint rally on the eve of Tuesday's election with a populist message that has defined their candidacies.
"It's David versus Goliath. It's the powers that be versus the powers that ought to be," Talarico said before supporters in a packed amphitheater.
The two Democrats took direct aim at Elon Musk, the world's richest man and a Texas resident. Musk has pumped more than $160 million into the Texas Senate race to boost Talarico's opponent, Republican state Attorney General Ken Paxton.
"Is this going to be a Texas that is by and for the people? Or this is the billionaires' world and we just live here?" said Hinojosa, who's running against incumbent Republican Gov. Greg Abbott.
