J.P. Morgan Wealth Management has recruited a Los Angeles financial advisor from Merrill Lynch, where she oversaw $940 million in client assets. Tiffany Yu, based in the Century City neighborhood, joined J.P. Morgan on Oct. 30, according to registration records.
Yu joins J.P. Morgan's Elevate Wealth Partners practice alongside advisor Eric Gray, continuing the firm's buildup of its wealth management operations in California.
"Tiffany is a highly accomplished advisor with a proven track record of helping clients work toward their financial goals and navigate complex wealth-planning needs," says Michael Rogers, regional director at J.P. Morgan Wealth Management. "Her hire builds on our established presence in the Los Angeles community and strengthens our ability to meet growing client demand there."
JPMorgan Chase maintains 240 branches and about 4,500 employees in Los Angeles. Earlier this year, the bank's wealth management unit recruited L.A.-based advisor David Amar, who had managed $1.1 billion at William Blair.
JPMorgan recently announced another prominent hire from Merrill, saying it had brought on Linda Patel to serve as Southeast regional director for J.P. Morgan Advisors.
Merrill didn't immediately respond to a request for comment on the departures.
Yu spent three decades at Merrill and first registered as a broker in 1998, and then registered as an investment advisor in 2004, according to the online database BrokerCheck. J.P. Morgan says she spent more than a decade on Merrill's municipal bond trading desk at the Capital Markets Group before transitioning to an advisor role.
Her client base includes business leaders, entrepreneurs, and multigenerational families, according to J.P. Morgan, which says she provides holistic financial advice including tax-aware and wealth-preservation strategies.
