The figures below compare the third quarter of 2026 and the year-to-date period ended September 30, 2026, to the corresponding prior year periods, except where noted.

Revenues were EUR1,289.2 million for the third quarter of 2026, compared to EUR1,518.9 million. Year-to-date revenues were EUR1,512.9 million, compared to EUR1,962.5 million. The decreases were primarily driven by expected lower market demand for BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccines.

Research and development ("R&D") expenses were EUR748.1 million for the third quarter of 2026, compared to EUR564.8 million. Year-to-date R&D expenses were EUR1,856.1 million, compared to EUR1,599.5 million. R&D expenses were mainly driven by higher expenses for the development of BioNTech's late-stage immuno-oncology ("IO") and antibody-drug conjugate ("ADC") programs and impairment expenses related to intangible assets which are outside of BioNTech's strategic focus.

Adjusted R&D expenses were EUR578.5 million for the third quarter of 2026, compared to EUR479.4 million. Year-to-date adjusted R&D expenses were EUR1,582.7 million, compared to EUR1,514.1 million. Adjusted R&D expenses for both the third quarter and year-to-date period in 2026 exclude impairment expenses related to intangible assets which are outside of BioNTech's strategic focus.

Sales, general and administrative ("SG&A") expenses were EUR178.5 million for the third quarter of 2026, compared to EUR148.5 million. Year-to-date SG&A expenses were EUR527.1 million, compared to EUR406.5 million. The increases were mainly driven by the ongoing pre--launch activities and commercial build-up, expenses associated with BioNTech's global initiative on scaling processes and ERP infrastructure to strengthen operational execution and the inclusion of operations from CureVac. This was partly offset by cost reductions resulting from the execution of initiatives related to BioNTech's pipeline prioritization.

Other operating result was negative EUR134.3 million for the third quarter of 2026, compared to negative EUR704.2 million. Year-to-date other operating result was negative EUR358.6 million, compared to negative EUR730.1 million. The quarterly and year-to-date results were primarily driven by impairment losses and employee related restructuring costs derived from BioNTech's pipeline prioritization execution.

Adjusted other operating result was negative EUR58.9 million for the third quarter of 2026, compared to negative EUR8.4 million. Year-to-date adjusted other operating result was negative EUR91.1 million, compared to negative EUR11.5 million. Adjusted other operating result for the third quarter of 2026 excludes impairment losses and employee-related costs related to BioNTech's pipeline prioritization execution as well as settlement expenses, while the comparable prior year result excludes employee-related costs and settlement expenses. Year-to-date periods in 2026 and 2025 exclude impairment losses, employee-related costs and settlement expenses, while 2025 also excludes a bargain purchase.

Net profit was EUR184.5 million for the third quarter of 2026, compared to a net loss of EUR28.7 million. Year-to-date net loss was EUR1,168.2 million, compared to a net loss of EUR831.1 million.

Adjusted net profit was EUR440.9 million for the third quarter of 2026, compared to an adjusted net profit of EUR752.5 million. Year-to-date adjusted net loss was EUR615.9 million, compared to an adjusted net loss of EUR27.1 million.

Diluted profit per share was EUR0.73 for the third quarter of 2026, compared to a diluted loss per share of EUR0.12. Year-to-date diluted loss per share was EUR4.63, compared to a diluted loss per share of EUR3.45.

Adjusted diluted profit per share was EUR1.76 for the third quarter of 2026, compared to adjusted diluted profit per share of EUR3.11. Year-to-date adjusted diluted loss per share was EUR2.44, compared to an adjusted diluted loss per share of EUR0.11.

Cash, cash equivalents and security investments as of September 30, 2026 were EUR16,163.8 million, comprising EUR10,200.8 million in cash and cash equivalents, EUR4,390.2 million in current security investments disclosed as financial assets and EUR1,572.8 million in non-current security investments disclosed as financial assets.

Shares outstanding as of September 30, 2026 were 247,928,180, excluding 11,099,307 shares held in treasury.

In May 2026, BioNTech entered into a share repurchase program, pursuant to which the Company may purchase American Depositary Shares ("ADSs"), each representing one ordinary share of the Company, in the amount of up to $1.0 billion until and including May 6, 2027. Since the inception of the program through September 30, 2026, 5,037,452 ADSs were repurchased at an average price of $91.98 (EUR80.10), for total consideration of $463.3 million (EUR403.5 million).

"Our performance in the third quarter allowed us to narrow our full-year 2026 revenue guidance to the upper end of the previous guidance range," said Ramón Zapata, Chief Financial Officer at BioNTech. "Fueled by our financial strength, we continue to focus our investments on our prioritized late-stage oncology programs. While we further enhance our operational efficiency and cost discipline, we return capital to shareholders through our share repurchase program. Together, these steps are aimed at creating sustainable long-term value."
